Position VIE – Design Engineer (Mechanical / Product Design) Location: Chicago, USA Duration: 18–24 months (Business France VIE program) As part of its international development, Nemera is offering a VIE opportunity for a Design Engineer to join its R&D and engineering activities in Chicago. This role offers exposure to product development in a highly regulated environment, working on medical devices that directly impact patient care. Role and responsibilities You will contribute to innovation and product development activities, supporting design phases from early concepts to industrialization. Main responsibilities include: Design activities Contribute to the definition and development of innovative product concepts based on engineering principles Perform detailed design of components and assemblies, including tolerance analysis Support design verification through appropriate testing strategies Conduct investigations and robustness studies on key product functions Contribute to Design for Manufacturing (DfM) activities Identify potential failure modes and support corrective action plans Participate in design qualification activities, including test development Interact with external suppliers on technical topics Produce clear and structured technical documentation Project contribution Work in multidisciplinary teams to develop new solutions Participate in project reviews and risk analysis activities Support knowledge sharing within the team Present technical results internally and, when relevant, to customers Contribute to design transfer to manufacturing and operations Profile Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or equivalent First experience (internship or 1–3 years) in product design and development Interest in high-volume production environments (plastic injection is a plus) Familiarity with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo or similar); knowledge of FEA tools is a plus Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail Ability to communicate technical topics clearly Fluent in English (French is a plus but not required) Curious, hands-on, and motivated to understand how products work in real conditions Why join this VIE Work on complex medical devices with real impact on patients Gain international experience in the US within a global organization Develop strong technical and project skills in a structured R&D environment Be part of a collaborative and multidisciplinary engineering team Experience life and work in Chicago, a major US engineering and innovation hub
