Description

You will work at the EDF R&D China center located in Beijing. This center has 2 missions: R&D support to EDF China’s business units, and link with the very dynamic local innovation ecosystem. You will join the center as a “Power System Research Engineer”. You will work within a small research team closely linked to EDF R&D’s international experts, and in interaction with business units and local academic partners and research labs. Your research domain will cover the power quality, system dynamic and resilience of DSO, and integration of distributed renewable energy. With non-stop increase of renewable energy ratios, the network operators worldwide are continually facing challenges to maintain a stable, reliable, and resilient power grid. Leveraging on a comprehensive vision on Europe and China’s electric systems, you will study and evaluate critical situations and technical solutions. As a VIE, you will support a broad range of Power System R&D activities, that may include: • Technical-economic analyses of different technical solutions, including DC power distribution systems, microgrids, and DERs projects. • In-depth market investigation and watch on technology innovations, such as Grid forming inverters, V2G, etc. • Identify innovative substation digitalization and distributed energy resources (DERs) control strategies. • Simulate power distribution systems in conjunction with power electronics systems under different control strategies. • Analysis of AC / DC distribution systems, in terms of power quality, stability and fault, protection scheme. • Experimental data acquisition and analyses. • Participate to build research collaboration programs with academic and research institutes partners. Technical skills : • Power system analysis, • Power electronics modeling and control, • Familiarity and/or working knowledge of power systems design and analysis tools (i.e., EMTP, eTAP, PSCAD, PSS/e, Powerfactory), data analytics, MathWorks Software (MATLAB, SIMULINK). • Practical working experiences in utility companies especially on the system planning side will be a strong plus.
