Application/Process Engineer – Semiconductor Laser Equipment (H/F)

Context: SMS-E (Sumitomo Materials Solution Europe) is a leader in the development and manufacturing of laser annealing equipment for the semiconductor industry. SMS-E laser products are used across a wide range of semiconductor technologies (CMOS, DRAM, IGBT, etc.) and are widely adopted by the world’s leading chip makers. Role Overview: As an Application / Process Engineer, you will act as the key technical interface between our equipment and client fab teams. You will help chip makers integrate and develop new processes on our tools, optimizing performance while ensuring process reliability and quality. You will report directly to the Product and Application Manager based in Gennevilliers, France. Key Responsibilities: • Collaborate with customers to understand their process goals and requirements. • Develop, test, and optimize semiconductor processes using our laser annealing equipment. • Provide advanced process support during equipment integration and qualification (acceptance). • Analyze process data and propose solutions to improve performance and yield. • Conduct technical demonstrations, training sessions, and workshops for customers, with daily interaction on-site. • Prepare and deliver regular technical reports to SMS-E management. • Collaborate with other SMS-E departments (Maintenance, R&D, Sales, etc.) to ensure successful integration of our laser products at customer sites. Required Qualifications: • Master’s or PhD degree in Semiconductors, Chemical Engineering, Electronics, or Material Science. • Knowledge of the semiconductor industry and related processes is preferred. • Experience in designing experimental plans (DOE). • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret experimental data. • Experience in customer management and technical support. • Fluent in English; Mandarin is a plus. • Team player with excellent communication skills. Position Specifics: • Based in Hsinchu, Taiwan at our subsidiary office. • Up to 25% travel (mainly within Asia: Japan, China, Singapore, Malaysia). • Work in a cleanroom environment. • Strict adherence to customer IP rules.
