Part of EDF China’s Research & Development centre, the Digital Innovation team is a young, dynamic team with two principle missions: 1) To explore the cutting edge digital technologies emerging from China’s universities, tech giants and startups, to develop prototypes with the aim of learning by doing and to share the results across EDF Group; 2) To support the business activities of EDF China with digital services including data science and rapid prototyping in order to create value. Function This VIE will contribute to existing and new data science and digital projects in collaboration with EDF China business units and EDF R&D departments. This would include, for example, setting up analytics environments, collecting data, developing models, delivering and presenting results via APIs or interactive dashboards to projects stakeholders. More precisely, there will be 3 major working scopes: 1) Contribute to the development of robust data engineering methods: β€’ Exploration of data-prepossessing method, develop tools to collect, cleanse and pre-process data β€’ Ability to work with large data set on local HPC and through Cloud computing services 2) Contribute to concrete applications of advanced AI techniques of GenAI, deep learning, computer vision etc.: β€’ Develop high performance models using language models, deep learning or reinforcement learning β€’ Apply these skills to problems covering time series data analysis, computer vision, automated process design β€’ Concrete use cases include defect detection of PV/ Wind turbine blades/ Concrete surface images, Agentic tool development for certain technical aspects (Green H2, industrial electrification etc.), and optimize AI algorithm performance on edge β€’ Deliver and present results via APIs or interactive dashboards to projects stakeholders 3) Continuously learn by exploring and testing emerging technologies: β€’ Stay up to date with best practice β€’ Discover and use the newest approaches β€’ Apply these too cutting edge R&D challenges Skills The person appointed should be able to demonstrate strong analytical skills along with a great level of English. Knowing Chinese would be a plus. Required skills and experience: - Strong background in math and/or statistics, with extensive understanding of machine learning. - Experience in Python is essential; experience in C++ is a plus. - Experience in Linux, CUDA, Transformer, Pytorch. - Applied deep learning experience in computer vision (object recognition, image segmentation, data augmentation). - Applied generative model experience with both text and image data - Ability to write clear and well-maintained code. - Master level degree in Data Science or similar. - Innovation and technology monitoring, looking for and experimenting with cutting edge tools and techniques. We give the greatest importance to being innovative, flexible and being keen to work within a dynamic team. An interest in energy and the energy industry would be an asset. The VIE mission will be based in Beijing PRC.
